Carbon Footprint
What is the CO² reading telling me?
The CO² reading is an indication of the amount of carbon dioxide emissions generated by the utility company whilst generating the electricity you have used.
A Greenhouse Conversion Factor is used to calculate total CO2 emissions in kg relative to the number of kWh used.
Each utility company’s conversion factor will be different depending upon the fuel mix used to generate electricity i.e. Coal, Natural Gas, Nuclear, Renewable.
What should my CO² Conversion Factor be?
Eskom’s CO2 emissions are +/- 1kg/kWh.
